Overview (Coordinate: 32.75N, 128.68E, 75m asl)


Fukue Island, western Japan, is located in the East China Sea and receives air masses from the Asian continent during springtime, with negligible influence from local sources. Distances from Korea (Pusan) and from China (Shanghai) are ca. 250 and 700 km.
JAMSTEC has been operating observations of O3, PM2.5, black carbon, etc since 2009. Wind data are from JMA-amedas at Fukue town.

Quick-look data

Comment:
  • Flight over Fukue on Jun 10.
  • Changed to clean air mass (June 2).
  • Further increases in O3, CO, PM2.5 were obserevd (May 30).
  • High O3, CO, and PM2.5 are recorded (May 25-27).
  • PM2.5 is rising during these several days. (May 22)
  • DC8 flew closely on May 11; surface PM2.5 was low.
  • High PM2.5 (probably dust) on May 7
